Redcoats - Redcoats "Everything is supersize in Redcoats’ world: epic drums and vocals, and a guitar and bass synergy that throbs, chops and drones. “We set out to do something that was bold,” states singer Emilio Mercuri. “It’s an honest brand of rock’n’roll.”
When it came to plotting the course of their debut album, the band decided isolation was the best option. They bunkered up in a valley at the foot of the Grampians, and again in the bush outside Daylesford, to forge songs out of jam sessions that went on long into the night. By day they’d walk out into the wilderness, getting willfully lost, then return to the rehearsal room to explore that sense of disorientation, expanding and experimenting with riffs."

Retro but fresh

Shirazman on 27.10.2012

A great debut from an exciting band of retro rockers. There's raw energy, fresh ideas, great riffs, pulsating rhythms that stir your gut and soaring spine-tingling highs along with thoughtful, introspective jazz influenced rhythms. It's like a great band from the 70's time travelled into 2012 with a whole bunch of great new ideas. This is one of those freakish albums that grows and grows with each listen. It starts as a 4 star but by the time you've played it a few times it becomes a natural five.
