3 songs you need to hear:

No 1. "10am Automatic" - first single from the album and the bastard child of Hendrix and Paul Rodgers. What you always loved about The Balck Keys bottled into a couple of minutes.
No 2. "The Lengths" - you may be scared if I use the word ballad, so let's say unbelievably stoned: or The Stones Beggars Banquet era all Gram-ed up and honky tonking. The highlight for me hands down.
No 3. Girl Is On My Mind / When The Lights Go Out / Act Nice and Gentle - OK, so I cheated - there's more than 3 songs on here you MUST hear: the former in case you need to hear "Set You Free" again ;), the latter The Black Keys trying their hands at a pop song (you know it doesn't sound like one, but still it's the thought that counts) and 'When the Lights Go Out' starts the album off a treat - any song that has a melody line played on a VERY scratchy out of tune fiddle needs your consideration! So many tunes, so little space.

I STILL think they sound like what the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band should have (their singer was pretty damn special - just a pity you had to sit through Kenny Wayne's guitar heroics to hear him!). I know I know, why DO two young skinny white guys sound SO black etc etc - this is rock n roll: no thinking should be involved!
"Don't forsake a desperate man" they plead...how right they are!
