Mystery Jets formed in the early '90s when the group's shock-headed frontman, Blaine Harrison, was only 12. Their first full-length album, Making Dens, was released in 2006. Zoo Time, a collection of Making Dens tracks plus remixes and early tracks, was released the next year. In 2008 they joined Rough Trade and released the album Twenty One which featured Laura Marling on one song and a top 30 single in the UK. The new album Serotonin is produced by legendary UK producer Chris Thomas (Roxy Music, Pulp, Sex Pistols) and strips away much of the excess on their lovelorn, warmlyreceived earlier music. Here the Mystery Jets map out entirely new musical territories: with synthesizer-fuelled perfect pop, hallucinatory tones and even hints of 70s FM radio faves ELO, 10cc, Fleetwood Mac and Supertramp rubbing up against the band's own idiosyncratic, very British, occasionally rather creepy psychedelic sensibility.
