The release features extensive 32 page personal liner notes which he has written, plus new sleeve artwork and previously unseen photographs. The original release was the only Morrissey album not to feature his image on the cover. The original cover featured boxer Kenny Lane.
Originally released in 1995, Southpaw Grammar was Morrissey's 5th solo album. The nature of this album was different to previous Morrissey releases. Musically the inclusion of two tracks which surpass the ten minute mark, the near two and half minute drum solo courtesy of Spencer Cobrin which opens the track 'The Operation' and the sampling of Shostakovich symphony have lead some to dub this album as Morrissey's flirtation with prog-rock. The album features the fans favorite singles "Dageham Dave' & 'Boy Racer'.
Morrissey himself requested he completely re-sequence the tracklisting, adding 4 previously unreleased tracks and completely altering the artwork. The unreleased tracks are; Honey, you know where to find me, Fantastic bird, You should have been nice to me & Nobody loves us.
