Through his time as front-man of The Smiths and subsequent enduring solo career, Morrissey has cemented his place as one of the true UK music icons. This position has ensured him a large, dedicated fanbase and significant commercial success: to date he has notched up 33 Top-40 solo singles (with 10 in the Top 10) and 11 Top-10 solo albums. This lasting success has not been limited to his early career either, with his last three studio albums charting No. 2, No 1 and No 3 respectively. The Morrissey catalogue campaign continues with The Very Best Of, a unique overview of the HMV/Parlophone years. As such, the album brings together hit singles (Suedehead (UK No. 5), Everyday Is Like Sunday (UK No. 9) and The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get (UK No. 8), amongst others), with b-sides (Girl Least Likely To, Such A Little Thing Makes A Big Difference) and the previously unreleased solo ver-sion of Interlude (originally released in 1994 as a duet with Siouxsie Sioux). Complementing the CD will be a bonus DVD, which includes eleven remastered promo videos (three of which are previously unavailable on DVD: Boxers, The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get and Sunny) and the rarely seen (and previously unreleased) live performance of I've Changed My Plea To Guilty taken from the =Tonight With Jonathan Ross Show', December 1990.
