Infusion is the better known act on the Thunk label and paves the way here with the legendary Spike – the tune that JJJ flogged to within an inch of its life. Pocket also adds his distinctly bent, hard-rocking treatment via two tracks, Wormhole and Smoke Signals (also available on his Overdue EP), and an outstanding reworking of Head Affect’s Fugue. The stand-out tune is the wobbly delirium of Escalator, from Head Affect. The Dillon Street Rangers supply the strangest tech-house thigh-slapper - lets just say a Jew’s Harp is not a common feature in dance music .... perhaps they’ve addressed this. Percussive techno grooves, clever progressive house and dirty synths rule the day on the Thunk Up CD.
