Rarely does quite such a unique sounding band as The Zebras come along. Their bag is a driving, jangly one, complete with subtle boy/girl harmonies and simple singsong melodies. For most lovers of guitar pop, this'd be enough, but what sets The Zebras apart from the pack are their comparatively unorthodox song structures. The songs here on their debut album are dense and full, and oh so pleasing. Jeremy Cole's bashful higher register at times may bear passing resemblance to Michael Stipe or Wayne Coyne, but also maybe not. This album is a drop-dead knockout!
