Illy - Bring It Back The third studio album from Australian hip hop sensation Illy comes in the form of Bring It Back. Described by the popular emcee as "a heart album", the LP was not stylistically intended to follow up from its predecessor The Chase. Reflective of the scene behind the genre, Bring it Back is largely a collaborative album, including all manner of vocal and production guests.Having built his friendships and networks over a fruitful career thus far, Illy set about selecting vocal appearances from both well-known and underground emcees, Bring It Back features Pez, Thundamentals, Reason, Mantra, Grey Ghost, Raven, and more. Production credits going to M-Phazes, Trails, Taku, Billy Hoyle, and One Above. Production credits going to M-Phazes, Trails, Taku, Billy Hoyle, and One Above.

Lyrically Illy employs hindsight to explain the existence of his current philosophies on the industry, relationships, envy, and creativity, as well as the odd trademark braggadocio anthem thrown in for good measure. As polished as ever, Bring it Back showcases Illy's aptitude for engaging penmanship and resonant song formation to flawless effect. Both intro and title track; 'Bring it Back' sets the tone and context for the album, Illy's fire-fuelled mission statement.
Produced by the ARIA Award winning M-Phazes, grungy guitar chords mean business alongside crisp boom-bap beats. 'The Bridge', originally intended for The Chase, features a cross-generational vocal line-up consisting of Illy, scene veteran Reason and 19 year-old newcomer Elemont. Emerged from three different eras, the three trade impressions of the scene, each bridging to the next. A production highlight from Taku, 'The Bridge'also features cuts by DJ Flagrant. 'Back, Back, Forward' was a intuitive creation for Illy. Upon receiving the beat, Illy produced a first draft within a swift 16 hour turn around period. A typical aggressive, high-energy Trials banger, 'Back, Back, Forward' is sure to be a live highlight for many Illy shows to come. Quality song writing through to the very last bar, Bring It Back is another Illy record destined for hit status.

Throw back to old school hiphop

Jake on 07.10.2012

Great 3rd album by Illy, in an interview he said in this album he tried capturing the older style of Aus hiphop and nailed it. Does rap over some famous beats such as 50 cents when it rains it pours song and an eminem track but as a whole the album is 5's both musically and lyrical wise. Got some real good fts on it especially the bonus track shooter. Can't wait for his next album
