For the first time ever on CD Raven presents two albums of tough, gritty Rhythm & Blues by the multi-hit song writer DALLAS FRAZIER - Elvira (1966) and Tell It Like It Is! (1967). Featuring a stripped down sound and stabbing horn lines these underappreciated blue-eyed soul classics are ripe for rediscovery. With both albums combined here on one CD they sound just as vital and exciting as when first recorded for Capitol in the 1960s. As a master song writer, Frazier provided hits for the Hollywood Argyles ('Alley Oop'), Charlie Rich ('Mohair Sam') and the Oak Ridge Boys ('Elvira'); George Jones recorded an entire album of his compositions and other mainstream acts such as Elvis Presley and Engelbert Humperdinck kept the Dallas Frazier songs spinning. Here Frazier delivers his own renditions of the hits, as well as more material in a singular style that were picked up by other artists ('She's a Yum Yum', 'Walkin' Wonder', 'Tell it Like it Is', 'Home in My Hand'). The package is completed by Bonus original 45-only songs from the same time frame and musical genre, descriptive liner notes and hitherto unpublished photographs assembled with the co-operation of the artist. After a 20+ year lay-off, in early 2007 Frazier announced plans to once again write and record in the style of this early seminal work. This is a must for fans of soulful R&B.
