Album Info

This CD is split between songs recorded by Fela's Highlife band, Koola Lobitos. This band started in London and moved back to Lagos where they were one of the most popular Highlife bands in the country. In 1969 Fela and band came the States and ended up in Los Angeles. They had a residency at a club called Citadel de Haiti on Sunset Boulevard where they started the evolution from playing Highlife to what would become Afrobeat. These songs were recorded during their L.A. stay.
