Good TV for the money, but very limited in function

Lucas on 27.07.2012

Pros: The TV looks great, its design is clean and simple with buttons hidden inputs placed to conceal cords. Setup was really easy and it downloaded and installed an update at first power-on (with network cable attached). The picture is really good and the screen is bright and clear, black is deep and whites are bright and clear. The receiver picked up all channels even when my 55" Samsung 3D still cant from my weak roof-top aerial. Cons: The Smart TV function is very weak with only a hand full of app's available; youtube, facebook and a web browser are there, but nothing else worth mentioning. Cinavision is a waste of time with access to 5 royalty-free movies that no one will ever watch and nothing else, I hope they improve on this. MAJOR DOWNSIDE: It has no DLNA function, which for a TV with network capability makes it almost redundant. I was told it had the ability when I bought it but it doesn't have anything to allow it to connect to devises on a network. For my house it's

Good TV..but not a true Smart TV

Jim on 09.08.2012

Great size TV for the money, good picture & sound quality. So far have been able to play all media formats i have thrown at via USB with 2TB HDD. Is not DLNA certified? seems strange to go to the bother of a Smart TV, but not do it properly and get certified.. Bought the wireless dongle, and was able to use browser/facebook etc. but control thru remote for web browsing is next to useless as remote is difficult to control or quickly navigate around (would be easier to control by keyboard/mouse or via iDevice or Android phone) Cinavision is a waste of time. Only 3 apps on 'their' version of market?? cannot connect device to Google play, so difficult to download any other apps to bypass lack of DLNA As stated above great value for money, ..but for a Smart TV, not there yet, hopefully a firmware upgrade should resolve these issue, for anyone that wants to stream media from home server to TV...this is not for you..stick with Samsung/LG Smart TV or use WD Live Streaming/Roku/Apple TV Als

Not bad for the money

Phil on 29.10.2012

Not a bad tv for the price. Picture is good, but not great. Has about 75% of the picture quality of my 4 year old Sony Bravia 40 inch full HD. As others have mentioned, the smart TV functionality is practically useless but this didn't bother me as I use hdmi to connect to a media pc which works pretty well. It seems that the problems lie mainly with the colour in that the whites seem rather bright, giving the lighter colours a very slight "unnatural" brightness. There is also minor backlight bleeding in the corners but this doesn't worry me as my Sony does this also. Long story short: If you are fussy and looking for the absolute best in picture quality, spend 2-3 times the price and get a Samsung/Sony/Another high-end brand. If you are not incredibly fussy and want a good bang-for-buck full HD TV then this is a good buy!
